Open titles run alongside age divisions. Contestants may enter every title they qualify for. There is no additional entry fee. Open Title winners automatically advance to the next level regardless of overall placement. There is no separate vote for most open titles — in the voting rounds (Directional and County) each is awarded to whoever entered it and earned the most Main Title votes, and at State and Finals it’s decided by the same in-person judging as the Main Title. The two exceptions are Miss Kindness and Miss Inspiration, which are chosen by a vote of the contestants themselves within each age division (see below). For experience-based titles — Caregiver, Survivor, Military Family, Entrepreneur, Community Hero, and Leadership — you don't need to gather anything yourself: you can simply name someone who knows your work, and we'll invite them to fill out a short nomination form on your behalf. It's never required, never scored, and your own word is always enough; it simply adds a supporting voice to your contestant page.

Paid add-ons are optional and stack across the season. Contestants may enter as many as they like at any level. Each is judged by the panel and celebrates a different moment, talent, or contribution. (Eight additional awards below are free and require no entry.)
The single most striking photograph from a contestant's submission package. Celebrates the moment a photo just works — natural light, true expression, undeniable presence.
A polished, magazine-ready image that could lead a glossy spread. Editorial poise, intentional styling, professional finish — the photo that stops the scroll.
That unmistakable, genuine smile that lights up the whole image. No filters required — this celebrates real joy caught on camera.
Eyes that hold the camera. Expressive, confident, warm — the kind of gaze that draws people in across a room or a screen.
Hair that completes the look — whether that's a flawless updo, natural texture proudly displayed, a curated style, or a fresh cut that just hits. Every texture, length, and approach is welcome.
Personal fashion sense from head to toe. Celebrates contestants who put together a look that says "this is me" — sustainable, secondhand, vintage, modern, traditional, or all of the above.
The single most coordinated, intentional outfit from the submission package. Style is personality; Best Dressed celebrates the look that pulled it all together.
Warmth, sportsmanship, and rapport throughout the season. Judged by the panel based on how a contestant carries herself with fellow competitors, staff, and volunteers.
These eight awards carry no entry fee. People's Choice is decided by public voting (paid and free votes count equally), every approved contestant is automatically eligible, and it is the one award voted at all four levels — Directional, County, State, and the Tri-State Finals. The other seven are recognition awards: Director's Choice, Judge's Choice, and Rising Uplifter are chosen at the panel's discretion, while Spirit of Uplift, Volunteer Excellence, Community Service, and the Uplift Project Award are awarded based on materials a contestant submits — documented service hours, completed-project write-ups, and similar evidence. None can be purchased or voted on. Questions about how awards and voting work? See our FAQ →

A discretionary recognition from the Uplift director team. Awarded to a contestant whose journey, dedication, or impact stood out behind the scenes — the contestant the organizers couldn't stop talking about.
A discretionary recognition from the judging panel. Awarded to a contestant who made an undeniable impression on the judges through performance, presence, or story.

Recognition for measurable, documented community impact. Hours served, projects completed, partnerships formed. Celebrates the contestant whose service portfolio speaks for itself.
Recognition for a self-initiated project the contestant designed and executed during the Uplift season. From book drives to mental health awareness campaigns — celebrates contestants who don't wait for permission to make change.
Recognizes a first-year contestant or one of the youngest divisions who showed standout growth, heart, and initiative across the season. Celebrates the newcomer who leaned in early and embraced the mission — lifting others up has no age requirement.
